Frequently Asked Questions
Do you draw a 2nd tile with Long Hallway, do you draw a 2nd Encounter card?
You draw only one Encounter card if both the Long Hallway and the revealed tile have a black triangle.
Are villains worth any EXP?
Villains are worth experience equal to their levels.
The rules state that when a monster moves to a new tile, it moves to the appropriate scorch mark. How does that work when heroes aren’t adjacent to the scorch mark? Does the monster have to spend a 2nd turn moving to the heroes?
If a Monster Card specifies to place a Monster in a specific location, such as adjacent to a Hero, that overrides the rule for placing a moving Monster on the scorch mark.
Can the flying carpet can technically fly over the Pit Trap if there isn’t enough room to place the carpet piece on the same tile?
The flying carpet can move to another tile that already has a marker.
Can any of the powers that specify ally also work on the Hero using them? Most notable is Lay on Hands.
A power that works only on an adjacent Hero does not work on the Hero using it. For example, the Paladin cannot use Lay on Hands to heal herself.
When monsters make a room tile in the villain phase, do you still draw a 2nd encounter card if it’s a black triangle? Or are you past that point in the villain phase?
You do not draw an encounter card when a Monster places a new tile.
Some items say to discard the item after use (like potions). Others say to flip over. What’s the difference between the two?
The main difference between discarding an item and flipping it over is with campaign play. If you are playing an ongoing campaign, you keep any of the cards you flip over. When you start the next adventure in the campaign, those items are flipped face up and you can use them again. In addition, there are some cards that allow you to flip a card face up, allowing you to reuse one of the face-down items.
Some monsters (like the kobold or duergar) make no mention of what happens when they end their turn on the same tile as a hero but not adjacent. What happens in those cases?
If you get to the end of a Monster’s tactics and no statement matches the Monster’s current state, the Monster does nothing.
The throwing shield item has an attack power with no mention of how often you can use it. How often can you make that attack?
The throwing shield can be used multiple times in a single adventure; however, the throwing shield can only be used once during your Hero Phase.
